Have you ever wondered why we age so differently? Some researchers have highlighted four “age patterns,” or biological pathways, that are responsible for the aging process. What made her so curious was that getting older means dealing with so many health issues. And if that’s the case, why do people have different problems in the first place? Here’s what happened.
It’s all about the results
A team of researchers from Stanford University School of Medicine in California began this new study. They selected a group of 43 healthy participants. All were about 34 and 68 years old and underwent an evaluation of molecular biological markers. This was for at least five times and two years. This longitudinal approach was a pioneering method in which they found detailed age profiles that help them “map” the various parameters of aging in individuals.
For example, high cholesterol is a common aspect in the elderly. However, more could be gained through maternal illnesses than in the population average. After all, even two people in the same age group do not look the same. The four distinct biological pathways emerged that have been shown to be important in characterizing aging and its types.
Four age groups
One of the good things about the study was the overall picture of aging, having delved into large molecules and even collecting multiple samples over the years from almost every participant. Aging at the molecular level is very complex and varies from person to person. The researchers even examined some biological samples, such as the participants’ blood and stool.
The presence and even activities of microbes would change, as would molecules, including proteins, lipids (lipids), and metabolites. After careful analysis, the researchers found four distinct “age patterns” or pathways of aging — metabolite (meaning the accumulation and breakdown of body substances), immune (related to immune responses), hepatocellular (all related to liver function), and nephritis (um the kidneys). Mission).
Now the question arises, why is that?
The researchers explained that people with a strong predisposition to metabolic aging, for example, have a high risk of developing diabetes. In addition, we cannot rule out that a person who is predisposed to one disease will not develop two or more signs of aging, as the combinations often lead to multiple health problems.
In addition to the types of aging, there were clear differences in the individual aging rates. These results are proving amazing when it comes to making people aware of how and when they should exercise more control over their lives. Really, the sooner we learn about the types of aging we are showing, the better and more empowering it will be to strategize to reduce the health problems we are likely to face. In this way we can also slow down the aging process.
slow aging? That is possible!
This research hasn’t fully revealed the miracle, but chances are you can slow aging. The research team looked for the underlying factors that drive aging. In particular, they compared the age profiles of people who were otherwise healthy but insulin sensitive and those who were insulin resistant.
But the bodies lost their usual effective blood sugar processing abilities. At least ten molecules differed significantly between the younger and older participants. But surprisingly, the study lasted two years, and the data collection results showed that not all of them reflected similar changes in age-type markers.
Even more interesting, people who made significant changes in their lifestyle (particularly diet) reduced age-pattern markers for a period of time. This certainly indicated that these individuals were aging slowly. A small number of participants also showed an age-related shift in hemoglobin A1c and creatinine associated with kidney function. It also happened at lower rates. Although the people who made immediate lifestyle changes didn’t show any improvement during the study, it all happened gradually.
The research team hopes to find more surprising results over time. Because the results are new and represent the beginning of a very complex journey to unraveling how aging works, they will reflect strong results over time. There are many mysteries everywhere, and perhaps a search will bring many of these fascinating details to light. We can find this legendary fountain of youth if that happens too!
